Mudavadi’s replacement in Raila's strategy
Politics 01:14Friday April 13, 2012 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga is already working on a strategy to take care of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s planned exit from ODM.
Some of the strategists allied to the Raila's camp said the PM’s options include courting a running mate from Western Province.
Though the Prime Minister has kept his silence on the matter, his close allies said Mudavadi could be replaced by Trade Minister Moses Wetangula, Forestry minister Dr Noah Wekesa or House Speaker Kenneth Marende.
Seven MPs allied to Raila met on Thursday in Nairobi Serena Hotel, where sources said they discussed possible options should the Sabatia MP quit.
The meeting was chaired by Raila’s confidant, Jakoyo Midiwo who said they would respond to Mudavadi’s threat today at the burial of the late vice-chairperson of National Cohesion and Integration Commission Mary Onyango, in Ugenya.
Meanwhile, ODM’s youth wing in Western Province has accused Mudavadi for allegedly working with enemies to destroy the party. The youths claimed Mudavadi has been secretly meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto who are in G-7 Alliance.
